After almost a decade of migrations abroad but also in other localities in Romania, we returned to our hometown, setting up a small local business. After a few more years, we chose to expand our activity, in Straja.
Why did we choose Valea Jiului (The Jiu Valley)? It's simple: from the desire not to lose our roots, from the desire to teach our children that it is possible to live simply, in a small community.
Ever since the name "Valea Lupilor", we want to make those who cross our threshold, curious to know the history of the place, to see beyond the 26 km of skiing area. The name of the cabin has its origin in the "Legend of the Wolf" according to which the sons of Brad, a resident of the village of Valea Lupului - the one freed from the wolves' curse - married "mountains baptized with Jiu water and later crossed the Retezat mountain to the other side , creating a proud settlement", named Lupeni.
Located right at the entrance to the resort, our cottage offers you all the conditions for a dream vacation. The location close to the ski slope, the spacious rooms with modern equipment, recommend it as the ideal location for both couples and families with children.
From 1445 m altitude, life is seen differently, the fresh mountain air being a real therapy for body and soul. Whether you choose to visit us in the summer, go hiking, pick blueberries, enjoy the 4 km long mountain-bike trail ("Wolf Trail"), whether you prefer the adrenaline of the ski slopes or the calm of spring, Straja never lets you down!
The Valea Lupilor Cottage is more than a business, it is a project of soul, and as a paradox, despite the endless hours of work, it is the place where we found ourselves as a family.
